rodeo

CP and I went to the rodeo today. The Houston Livestock show and rodeo is the biggest rodeo at least that is what they tell us. There is lots of prize money given away every night not just on the final night of the show. I love the rodeo! I have gone at least once every year for the past 10 years. A lot of people go for the concert star but for really I don't care who the performer is I just like the rodeo, the carnival, the livestock shows and the exhibits that are out there. You can get all kinds of free things from the exhibitors. Learn all kinds of fun facts, eat some really yummy food that is really bad for you ( or some really yucky food that is yucky for you too). We spent all day there enjoying all that was offered. But more on our day later... I have some pictures and videos ( really MUST figure out how to get the videos on my computer...) this post is about what we found upon returning to my place. CP had brought his two pups down to stay here while we went to the rodeo I got everything puppy proofed for them. Meaning I got all cords up out of their reach, shoes put away, vacuum put elsewhere and such. I filled up the water dishes and we put the pups in the kitchen blocked by a kiddie gate I had. By the time we were going out my door we were pretty certain that the gate wasn't going to hold them in but as I said we had pretty well puppy proofed my apartment. SO as long as they got along and didn't kill or hurt each other I wasn't worried about it. That said, arriving back home after being gone for over 12 hours was a little scary. As we approached the door there wasn't any noise coming from my apartment which helped me to relax a bit as one of my concerns was that they would be barking and making noise all day. upon opening the door discovered all three dogs happy and free! First thing I noted was while there was some puppy poop and a few wet spots on my carpet not a bunch so that was good. Second thing was that all furniture and stuff was still intact not stuffing shredded all over or chewed up wood or anything like that a blanket was on the floor but while it had been moved around was not chewed up. All puppies were happy and excited to see us. And i was relaxing and thinking we were worried for nothing they did fine...Then saw the kitchen! I wish I had possessed the presence of mind to snap a picture of it but my mind went strait to clean up and rescue. I will try to describe what we saw. First thing I saw was the kiddie gate was still in place and in one piece (which meant they had either gone over it or had gotten through the three inch gap at the bottom of it) then my see carrots on the floor! Totally confused me I mean where would they get carrots? The carrots were safely in the refrigerator. then I see the open door to my fridge and containers of all kinds of things on the floor! There were the carrots, several containers with things like cream cheese and soup on the floor. The containers evidently were not something they were able to figure out how to get into so while they were on the floor their contents were safely tucked inside. The bagged lettuce however they liked found the bag but not much else of it contents same thing with my tortilla wraps the bag still existed but not the wraps. Of course there was also on the floor puppy "business" but something interesting on that aspect it really wasn't as much overall as I expected to find leaving the dogs alone inside for about 16 hours. So they are learning and getting house broken. I wish I had set up a camera so we could see them doing the fridge opening and the great escape. Nearest we can figure with the opening of the fridge is that I have a dish towel on my fridge handle that now has some teeth marks in it. I can see Carrie playing with it pulling on it like a tug of war and the door opens the rest is just a bonus or reward for winning the tug of war! Luckily, I didn't have much in there that spoiled. I had maybe a 1/4 cup of milk and one container with some cream soup from work in it that I will toss but otherwise everything was stuff I keep cold just because I like it chilled not because you have to. In a while I post about the day at the rodeo for us...
