hiking and baking

Yesterday CP and I went hiking on the Lone Star trial. The puppies all had a fun time. It was a beautiful day a bit of a chill in the air but perfect azure skies and low ( for us) humidity. As it was a Monday we were basically hiking on our own. Except that there were several police and forest service people out on the roads because of a missing 13 year old. He was found alive and well. Houston Chronicle has the story if you want more information on him. But They weren't around us on the trial so it was nice and peaceful. CP also taught me to drive his stick shift jeep. So at 40 I finally know how to drive a standard transmission car. Not that I am very good at it but I have learned and will get better.
Work has been fun. We have been busy on Friday evenings for the past month or so we have had a 12 top come in around 6 so I have gotten to make a few more salad and such. Got to make a California club last week and nachos supreme as well. I have stated before none of this is rocket science but with each dish I learn the more I can help and the better it is for everyone.I got to make the dessert for a wine tasting from around the world thing they had on Saturday. I didn't spew flour or mix everywhere with the mixer. :) the desert looked like this:
one of the pans got out in the walk in a bit crooked and we had a "suicidal" berry:
It was a very simple yet yummy dessert.
