So here I sit after being being awakened to care for my Mom about an hour ago unable to sleep so the computer and I are getting re-acquainted and I was drawn to my blog...lucky you! :)
Quick little update on my Mom...
She is hanging in there some days doing a bit better than other days. The Specialist tried her on one medicine last week that we think she had an allergic reaction to as she lost her voice and was wheezing some. So she is on another medicine now that hopefully she will not react badly to and will help with pain control. She goes in for a nerve test next week to determine which nerve(s) it is that is bugging her so they can treat that specific one. Amazing what all they can do now! She is also having some lab work done today to find out if her problems with diarrhea/constipation are anything to be concerned about.
One of my sisters has been the last for days which has been nice for both my mom and me (or is it I? only thing about my mom and sister they are constantly correcting my English sigh! )
As for me? I am hanging in there. With out having a job or all the things I had that defined my days I get lost during the week as to what day it is, I miss my job ( I was really enjoying working with the two year olds and was just beginning to feel like I was making progress with the kids). I miss my friends. This weekend I missed the wedding of a couple of great people. I miss my dog. I miss being in the know about everything that is going on around me. But all that aside I know that this is where I am needed and wouldn't ( most of the time) be anywhere else.
The altitude has affected my lap band and i started having increased incidences of reflux again. SIGH! SO after an email to my surgeon I double up on my medicine but hopefully as I adjust to the greater height and atmospheric pressure so will the band and I will stop having issues. I have already noticed some improvement. I had to cancel my appointment this week due the fact that I not in town but I have rescheduled for December when we should be back in town. In fact it was interesting...when I called to cancel/reschedule my appointment it was the same day I sent the email to my surgeon asking about my reflux problems. SO I call and a male voice answers the phone as I identify myself ( thinking it was strange cuz I don't know of any men who work there and thinking he sounds cute ;) ) he interrupts me and says hi did you get my email? I just responded. It was my doctor! He answered his own phone! the ladies who work there were all busy on so he answered his own phone! Then proceeded to talk to me about altitude and the lap band and also about stress and stomach acid and the band. Plus he took care of my appointment changing needs.
Hope Everyone has a Great Thanksgiving!

How are you, dear?
Thanksgiving is a great time to reflect on our long-time-no-see friends.
Take one thing at a time; do not be in a hurry. Health is more important than expediency.
