I still haven't talked about last Saturday and here it is the next Saturday, the middle of yet another busy, busy weekend which comes at the end of a busy week! So quickly, because I got to go walking with a friend here in a bit, last saturday...
Last Saturday a group of us went up to the Dallas area for a SA mini conference and dance. We got up there in time for the keynote speakers whose title was "so your family isn't perfect either?" They did an awesome job! I wish we could have gotten there in time for a workshop or two but the keynotes left me uplifted and reminded me that regardless of my personal earthly family ( you know husband, which I don't have, kids, ditto the husband part) I am part of a perfect family. Heavenly Father's family! Helps to put an eternal perspective on things now and then. after the keynotes was the dinner and dance. During dinner the entertainment was Tongan dancers. They were great. It is amazing the things some people can do with their bodies! The dance was great!
The best part of the night was the fact that I got out there and amongst strangers shook my bootie. I brought with me the confidance of my local attitude of "I came here to dance so I am going to dance!" Local meaning where I normally am, my comfort zone so to speak. I enjoyed myself and while I did not meet a whole lot of people will do better next time in that arena I am sure. I kind of had to get in the pond this time and swim on my own get to know the pond a bit before swimming off to join others and get to know them. And I did meet a few people so it was good. Of course the fact that I was with three other poeple helped quite a bit. Heavenly Father really blessed us on our return trip. I did the driving back home in one of the other girls car left mine home this time. We were just pulling into where one of the other girls left her car in the parking lot of a wal-mart when the battery light came on and power steering was lost, we made it into the parking space when the car started "bleeding" radiator fluid. Now if this had happened before we got there we would have all been on our cell phone in the middle of nowhere in the wee hours of the morning trying to get help as it was the girl whose car had been left at the wal-mart gave us rides to our cars and we all made it home. Turned out to be the water pump dieing on us. I have been broken down in the daytime on the stretch of highway we were on and that was no fun to do that in the dark of night would have been just plain scarey! Yes, The Lord really blessed us that night with safety and protection (yes they are different!) to make it home.
More later got to go walking!
