The car saga

Been a bit since I have written anything on here sorry about that. To make up for that there will be several posts today. I could just do one big one but think this way I will remember all that I need to talk about.
So to start with...
The Car Saga
I have a 2002 focus that has been a good little car most of the time. Gets great gas mileage ( usually around30-32mpg) and zips me around town ( HOUSTON is a big town sometimes just getting somewhere takes an hour or more and not due to traffic) or on trips to see my family and friends around the country. Recently however it has been causing me headaches galore. back during the fall it started stalling on me, it would start right back up again but it is scary to drive when your car stalls if it has to idle for even a simple stop sign. So we replaced the battery which tested bad at AutoZone (weird I thought that it would start right up always and all but I had replaced the alternator about six months before so replacing the battery which was old was fine.) It helped...kind of. I was no longer stalling out but was still getting hiccups when accelerating after being idle or coasting for any time so...joined a forum and asked what could be going on was given all kinds of possibilities from a bad alternator or voltage regulator to vacuum hose issues to fuel injector clog. So started working on the cheapest easiest fixes first. Additives into my tank to clean the fuel injectors didn't help. A friend came and he heard air so tracked down air leak one and fixed it...still problems... friend came back and we could hear air still tracked down leak two tried to fix but couldn't. So I took it to a shop they quoted me $200+ to fix it no way! Back to AutoZone...he can see the leak but that isn't a hose they carry ( I ALWAYS have those type of cars) but he cut spliced and fixed the hose for me and didn't charge me a dime. Nice guy. Took care of part of the problem. the car is no longer hiccuping but the check engine light is still on and now it flashes some...so to another AutoZone they test and find out there is a misfire on cylinder 2 so buys new spark plugs and CP installs them for me...improvement but still not fixed. Back to AutoZone to buy a coil after getting the coil realise the wires weren't with it so call AutoZone and ask about wires end up back there exchanging the coil for a heavy duty fuel injector cleaner. Because that guy seems to think it is more likely to be the injectors being clogged than a coil/wire issue. So I put the new cleaner in no improvement by now my mpg is down to 18mpg. I decide to go get a professional fuel injector flush first place couldn't do it the second told me it wouldn't do any good because my problem was the wire to spark plug 2 was not sparking at all. So I thank them for their honesty and go back to auto zone. I call my friend on my way and ask should I get the wires and the coil or just the wires he says just the wires to start with. So get the wires and he comes and puts them on like the spark plugs better but not much...he tests the wire and says it is very weak sparking so I go get the coil and CP put it in for yesterday. My beautiful zippy car is back. I have acceleration ability and my check engine light is off! Kind of funny but when it turned off after driving for a bit I got freaked out a little because something wasn't as it should be on my dashboard. Silly me it was as it should be dark no extra lights! Took about 4 months but I believe my car is now road worthy again. YIPPEE!!!
