well maybe I will manage to get some pictures on here tonight but if not tonight soon I promise :) I got a card reader for the digital camera i have been using so have pictures from our trip to Mississippi. I have one that really shows how much I have lost in the last two years. It is with the friend who took me to have surgery and with whom my before surgery photo was taken. I am just excited that I found a card reader for this camera. It is a great camera but older so was concerned that I would be unable to find one for it. So while i am uploading the pictures from the computer ( via..sigh...dial up) to photobucket I am writing this.
I hope everyone had a good Christmas and That your New Years plans are fun and safe.
A tradition in the south is to have a New Years dinner of Ham, Cabbage, blackeyed peas, and cornbread. YUM!!! There are superstitions about thereasons for each part of the dinner...
Ham is for health
Cabbage is for wealth
Black-eyed peas are for luck
and the corn bread? well it just tastes so gosh darn good with the rest!
I think New years is the only time I would go out and buy cabbage to cook at home. It is so stinky to cook. I suppose you could make a cole slaw with it but our family tradition is for cooked cabbage. I actually like cabbage but rarely eat it because it is so stinky.
Anyone else have traditions with New Years?
Of course there is the traditional listing of resolutions (and then the traditional breaking or giving up on those resolutions on the 2nd). Today i heard someone talking about not making resolutions but rather one resolution and to make it specific. so instead of listing lossing weight or getting fit as a resolution you state I will lose 3 pounds a month or I will walk/run 10 miles a week. Which will result in you losing weight or getting fit but is much more specific. I liked that just one thing to work on and making it specific so you don't get over whelmed by 3 or 10 things to do or not do depending or by the vastness of the resolution. I mean get fit? That is huge and there are soooo many ways to try to accomplish that but if instead you put walk 10 miles a week very specific with the same end result. I also like the idea of doing 3 month or 6 month resolutions. i mean once you form or break a habit you can then add in something new. So I am going to set quaterly resolutions and NO I am not going to set them all for the year I am going to set one goal for my "new years" resolution and then at the end of March I will decide on and set my next goal. So this picture uploading thing is taking forever I will post some pictures tomorrow and will also then reveal my goal.
