Hodge podge

OK so lots and lots has happened since the last post. first of all I am now living in cut-n-shoot yes that is truly the name of the town. I have access to the internet via my friends computer so it will be late night posting from here on out. Well that isn't really all that different but what is is that i won't have access to the internet all day long at work so I will be doing my other people's blog checking out at night only too and emailing (which I have gotten sooooo behind on responding and sending emails). My planned move to Albuquerque has been delayed but not canceled. I feel very strongly that The lord wants me there but have yet to figure out when He wants me there so learning patience as I wait and live life here. I have most of my things out of the condo and hopefully will pick up the rest tomorrow night or Wednesday night and get the keys to the new owners by Thursday.
One of the hardest things to do in all of this moving was tearing down my computer. In fact I had vetguy do it for me. i just couldn't it was like removing a vein or something. The next hardest thing to do has been figuring out what to keep and what to throw and what to do with the stuff I don't want but don't want to just toss but don't have room to store or a way to get to storage. Still have a twin bed I need to get rid of and a computer desk I need brought to storage or to my new room... guess I could get someone to take both to storage for me I think the twin would fit in the storage unit... but then it is a matter of timing it I only have until 9pm to get things to storage and since I work till 5 and have activities Mon-wed evening....sigh! maybe someone would be willing to meet up with me and get the things into storage in the morning it opens at 6am could get the things there and be to work by 8...there's an idea!
So that is the moving update...
Except to say I think that my new living arrangements are going to be good really good.
I am have decided that I am going to go ahead and register for the half marathon if I am still in this area I will definitely be doing it and if I have moved by then I will come back to do it so I am registering for it sometime this week to get the cheaper fees. I had a very nice discussion the other night with a fella who owns a boxer we crossed paths occasionally while walking our dogs. He ran the marathon 2 years ago and knew I had walked the half this year so we talk about walking/running quite a bit when we meet up. He and I were discussing his back injury and that it now has him cross training and thinking about doing a triathlon when I mentioned that I had always kind of wanted to do a marathon by 40 and he said go for it! I was like really? he said you can do it this year do the half and shave off the time then for next (2009) you can train for the full marathon and to run it. you just have to finish it in 6 hours and if you get your walking time down to just over 3 hours this years you can so easily get a running time for the marathon of under 6 hours for 2009. He is right and has me excited for not only training for the half marathon but to start training for the marathon which training for the half this year is the beginning of my training for the full next. YES, the insanity continues! But if I am going to get my time down to a 15 minute mile I need to start getting serious about my walking again. I won't start distance training till the fall but these next 8 weeks or so need to be about speed. I am hoping to get my time down to a 15 minute mile over 3 miles by September so that if I do the Huntsville 5k this year I complete it in 45 minutes. that race is in October. What was really cool about the whole conversation with boxer owner was he was so positive and encouraging about it all. Not many people in my life who should be supportive are, most are like either you are crazy or you can't do that.
I LOVE MY JOB! The only thing that bites about it is there is no money in childcare. Not that I need tons of money but you don't even really get a living wage in daycare. But man oh man! I LOVE working with those one year old kids and seeing them make a connection and learn things. It is such a joy. Wish the early childhood education degrees weren't for basically age 3 and up. 3 and 4 year old kids are not my cup of tea so headstart is out and that is basically the only place for that degree. Why is it I find ( or re-find) something I absolutely love but it is something that can't begin to support a person in real life. I mean right now it will somewhat work because I won't be having as many bills but still. I LOVE MY JOB!!!!!

Hay girlfriend-look into early head start in your area. The pay still stinks but it is better then a regular daycare center. That is who I work for. Early intervention is big right now, so most colleges with ECE degrees are focusing on 0-3. WSU out here has a great program as does PSU. (Think oregon & Washington). Keep in touch, your mission buddy out west. Guess What?

A little late on this comment but why not get a degree in human development or whatever is need and then become a dirrector of you own facility? I know that sounds grandios... but what if? and Why not?! You could do the early start before head start begins... just the 1-3 year olds... or something like that.
Just an idea. I'm SO glad you're enjoying it. Work and life should be enoyable!
